The Germ Busters from Rancho Rosal competed at the Nov. 20 QT at Cal Lutheran.  They won the Programming Award and finished in the top 25% so they advance.  The Germ Busters aslo scored 141 points and finished third in Robot Performance.  The Happy Explosions from Rancho Rosal also had a great day at CLU and qualified for the LA Region Championship.

The Yin Yang Pandas from UCMS competed in the Stevenson Ranch QT.  They received a Project award andfinished 6th in Robot Performance.

    Nice job, everyone!

We hope everyone had a great time on Saturday, November 19, at Monte Vista!  The teams were all very impressive!

Congratulations to those who advanced to the Los Angeles Region Championship Tournament on December 17.  It will be held at Chaminade Middle School in Chatsworth.  Qualifiers and Alternates: Watch your emails for instructions from Leroy Nelson, LA Region Operational Partner.  There are still more Qualifying Tournaments on December 3 so you may not hear from him until after that date.  There is no fee for the Championship Tournament.  It's a large tournament and a lot of fun!  Even if you're not participating it is fun to watch, so consider stopping by to support our local teams!

Theme for FLL 2011 - FOOD FACTOR

Can FIRST® LEGO® League teams improve the quality of food by finding ways to prevent food contamination?   In the 2011 Food Factor Challenge, over 200,000 9-16* year olds from over 55 countries will explore the topic of food safety and examine the possible points of contamination our food encounters – from exposure to insects and creatures, to unsterile processing and transportation, to unsanitary preparation and storage – then find ways to prevent or combat these contaminates.  In the Food Factor Challenge, teams will build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT to solve a set of Food Safety missions as well as research, develop, and share their innovative food safety solutions.

Elementary and middle-school students get to:

checkbox red  Design, build and program robots using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology
checkbox red  Apply real-world math and science concepts
checkbox red  Research challenges facing today’s scientists
checkbox red  Learn critical thinking, team-building and presentation skills
